We “compound” or “make” medication from scratch in our lab located in the Canmore store. We make medication because some patients have specific needs that can’t be met by manufactured medication. Patients include adults, children, and pets.
Note: Compounds can take from one to a few days to prepare; please allow for this time.
Examples of the medications we make and how they help patients:
Capsules:
- For patients who need a dose of medication not available from a manufacturer.
- For patients who need medications that manufacturers no longer make or do not have in stock.
Creams:
- For women and men who need hormone replacement therapy not available from a manufacturer.
- For patients who need anti-inflammatory or pain relief from their injuries.
- For patients who need custom preparations for different skin conditions.
Custom Flavoring:
- For patients, such as children, who need their medication to taste better in order to take it.
- For pets who need a flavoured capsule to take their medication (flavours include grilled beef, chicken, liver, and fish).
Suppositories:
- For patients who need a combination of ingredients not available from a manufacturer.
- For patients who need a product for a specific condition.
Lollipops:
- For patients who have trouble swallowing pills or liquids.
- For patients who need immediate pain relief in a rescue situation.
Dental mouth rinses and gels:
- For patients who need a combination of ingredients not available from a manufacturer.

Our main supplier of ingredients for our compounds is Professional Compounding Centres of America (PCCA). PCCA takes great care to supply the highest quality ingredients.
